Join us for an information and Q&A session about the study abroad program at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. Students from all majors and departments are welcome to attend. We will be discussing the main components of the academic program, campus life, and the application process.
The Arava Institute for Environmental Studies is a leading environmental studies and research program in the Middle East. Located on Kibbutz Ketura in Israel’s hyper-arid desert, it houses a rigorous academic program, research centers, and international cooperation initiatives focusing on a range of environmental concerns and challenges. With a student body comprised of Jordanians, Palestinians, Israelis, and students from around the world, the Arava Institute offers students a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn from leading professionals while forming friendships and developing skills that enable them to lead the region and the world in solving today’s most pressing environmental challenges.
Our study abroad program consists of courses ranging from Alternative Energy Science to Water Resources in the Middle East to Political Ecology, and students also partake in weekly dialogue sessions about the regional conflict and environmental peacebuilding. Courses are accredited by Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and students may apply these credits to their program of study at Vassar College
